According to stats, English is slowly going to become a second tier language and it's a shame because it seems as our country caters to those who don't speak our language. Instead of teaching them, we decide to make signs for them. Things need to change!

Just my two cents: this has not happened only with English. Spanish also has its derivations. This particular dialect of Spanish from the Philippines does not use verb conjugation, only infinitives.

Not having an "official" language policy in the US nationally does not mean that we don't
have a language policy. We have a very strong unofficial (covert, implicit) language policy, and it means that English is the dominant language in commerce, education,
government, the arts, entertainment, sports, and many other domains. Immigrants, even Hispanics, tend to assimilate within two generations. Officializing a language does not
make it more advantageous for immigrants to learn English--they learn it because they can see they and their children can get better jobs and have more opportunities. In fact,
families that try to maintain a home language other than English have a hard time doing so, and we have to then turn around and retrain people, at great expense and effort, to learn other languages.
